ASDA fm - Research

Asda fm is the in store radio station for the Asda supermarkets in the UK.

The Asda fm radio station mostly only consists of music tracks and advertisements. But along side that it also includes idents and jingles to promote the radio station more.

The order in which the radio station normally goes is that there is first an ident or jingle and then there’s a short introduction said by the dj, then the first track is played, because the radio station is mostly just broadcast in the store, the dj doesn’t have to introduce the song. Most of the time after a track has finished you might hear the ident or jingle and then most of the time you hear an advert before the next song.

Asda fm does not only include the modern chart hits but it also plays a whole range of different music for different ages.

Heart Breakfast show - Research

The heart breakfast show is the part of heart fm which is on for three hours every morning from 7:00 to 10:00.

The show mostly only consists of music, idents and jingles and sometimes adverts. The main purpose of the show is to wake everyone up in the morning. Most people in the morning don’t just want to listen to people talking so they put this station on and then for three hours they can hear their favourite music playing.

The order in which the show normally goes is that you first hear an ident most of the time and then there’s an introduction from the dj and after that it goes straight in to the music. After a couple of tracks you hear the dj say something like news about the traffic ect and then more music plays. Then later in the show they normally put an advert in it for example an advert about a sale in a shop.

As the heart breakfast show is still part of heart fm, they play all kinds of music and try to make it ideal for most people who listen to the radio.

BBC Radio Suffolk weekend show - Research

BBC Radio Suffolk is the BBC Local Radio service for the English county of Suffolk.

The show consists of music, news, adverts and interviews as well as the idents and jingles to promote the radio station. BBC Radio Suffolk is mostly targeted at the older generation.

BBC Radio Suffolk doesn’t normally tend to go in any order, most of the time they might be playing a track and then all of a sudden an advert plays to grab people’s attention. It is the same with the idents and jingles; they tend to just stick them in after a song etc to promote the radio station.

Although younger people listen to Radio Suffolk, the station is mostly targeted at an older generation therefore they mostly tend to play older songs, like from the seventies upwards. They do still play some of the modern tracks but they focus more on the older tracks.

ICR fm - Research

ICR fm is a community radio which stands for (Ipswich Community Radio).

The main purpose of this radio station is to discuss things such as topics, with the Ipswich community. It is also meant to act as the source of information. It reflects the breadth of interests, languages and cultures that make Ipswich what it is.

The radio station doesn’t normally tend to go in any order, what happens is that most of the time there is an ident at the beginning which then goes straight into the dj speaking about what the show is going to be about. Then it mostly just goes from there, the ICR fm radio station tends to be more speech based, but they do add some adverts and music tracks.

ICR fm normally tend to target their show at most of the community, by making it as interesting as possible so that they get a lot of listeners.
